Chapter 21

Daniel clicked and unclicked his pen for the hundredth time. He sighed impatiently as he sat watching the library door, waiting for her to walk in all nervous and awkward. But when the door finally swung open and Kendall walked in, she wasn't nervous or awkward at all, she was raging.

She stomped over to the table and slamming her books down, she ran a frustrated hand through her hair then sank down into her seat.

He couldn't hide his smirk.

She met his gaze and scowled at his amused expression. "I'm sorry, is my misery amusing to you?"

He chuckled, causing her to frown.

"I was just wondering whether you knocked out another girl I've been with? You are the jealous type after all," Daniel said teasingly.

"I am not!" she blurted.

He laughed again and leaned forwards, bringing his face closer to hers and said in a lowered voice, "Don't worry, Princess, I already told you I don’t mind."

The blush she'd been suppressing all day spread across her cheeks and she began arranging her books to seem busy.

He stared at her flustered state, amused. He knew exactly what to do and say to induce this reaction.

"Ok, why are you actually mad?" he asked genuinely, dropping the smirk, "And late?"

She looked at him guiltily, "I'm sorry I was late. I got into a huge argument with Megan and basically ended our friendship and now I'm number one on her hit-list."

He quirked an eyebrow. "Wow. That all happened pretty quickly, you were only ten minutes late."

She giggled, feeling the tension from the argument lessen. "Yeah, I guess it did all happen pretty fast."

"What was it about?" he asked.

Kendall sighed.

"Megan is not a big fan of the new girl, Daphne. She's been getting so much of Austin's attention, leaving Megan with none. Megan came up with this psychotic plan to put wasps in Daphne’s locker because she's allergic. I explained how dangerous and insane that plan was and Megan didn't like that."

Daniel looked dumbfounded. "You're right, that is psychotic."

"Yeah," Kendall laughed.

"You might want to warn Daphne to have her EpiPen on standby whenever she's at school," Daniel suggested.

"Yeah, I think I might," Kendall said.

Daniel looked at her with a boyish grin.

"What?" she said, confused.

"You stopped being all awkward and weird around me. I knew you'd come around," he said smiling.

Kendall laughed nervously and looked down at her books, blushing yet again.

"I guess I did," she said sheepishly.

Daniel couldn't help but stare at her. He loved the effect he had on her and he loved even more that she tried to hide it. He found it fascinating just watching her, it was as if he could see the wheels turning in her brain just by looking into her dark eyes.

An idea suddenly struck her and her face lit up like a light bulb. "Oh! There's a party this Friday at some footballer's house. You should come."

He smiled.

"Are you asking me out?" he asked with raised eyebrows.

She rolled her eyes. "Well, the party is technically out, because it is
